Why Won't My Boyfriend of 8 Years Marry Me?

My BF and I have been together for 8 years, since university when he was 17 and I was 21. We have broken up a few times, but mostly have been together and when we are we have a solid, caring relationship that I think makes the perfect foundation for a marriage. He is responsible, intelligent, good-looking, caring...He even moved to the other side of the country to join me. Recently he began a new career somewhere else far away, and I moved to join him.

All of our friends are getting married now - every couple from university is married or engaged except for us. I really, really want to be engaged. I feel that my other girlfriends have suceeded where I have failed, that their boyfriends value them more than mine values me, that they must be prettier or nicer or smarter than I am. As I am now almost 30, I have a baby from a previous relationship, and I am ready for marriage. Why won't he marry me? Last week he even forgot our year dating anniversary. Should I give up?

Haha, why do you Nigerian women think that marriage is the pinnacle of a relationship ??, maybe the poor guy is not ready for marriage, did you ever ask him what he plans on doing with you ??, or you just assume he will marry you because you guys are sleeping together??,wake up and change that archaic mentality that assumes the moment you sleep with a guy, it automatically means he's going to marry you, you had a baby from previous relationship, give the poor guy a break and talk to him instead of assuming.

After 8 good years! haba it's not fair to abadoned someone just like that. My sister, It's better u call his attention very fast because time wait for no one. Some guys are just heartless sha baba God lead us through o.

You are right but what can he be doing with her for good 8 years if he doesn't want to marry her? Afterall he knows she already had a kid before they started the relationship so she's not to be blamed.
